Somewhat New Stuff
Worth
This is a setting of Amy Lowell's "Charleston, South Carolina" for solo tenor and electronics. It's short; just listen to it.

Love Songs
Love Songs is a setting of five poems by Sara Teasdale for vocal octet and electronics. The five movements, "Faults", "Tonight", "Riverside", "Care", and "After", form a complete story of a failed relationship.

Chorale Prelude
No, there's no Chorale to go with this Prelude. This is an all-out war between dissonance and consonance, between syncopated canonic madness and homophony, and (that age-old struggle) between woodwinds and brass. Enjoy!

Terse Sonata
This is a comical little trombone sonata. It's one of my portfolio pieces as I apply for graduate programs in composition. It's full of octatonic scales. And hilarity. Check out the score as you listen!

Really Old Stuff
Distant Lands
This piece began as an experiment with tritone leaps in the bass. It evolved into a full orchestra piece (with fake choir!) in a single day. (The really good ones seem to do that.) It also shows off some of Reason's capabilities rather nicely: I barely worked on the sounds at all. That is, it's not the greatest example of realism in synthesized orchestras, but for almost no work, it's pretty good.

Electrify
Electrify is unabashedly some sort of synth-filled pop-like thing. I'd also like to note that the drums are pretty cool and that the entire piece was written just so that I could put in those solo synth chords that occur right after the really cheesy part. Also, I dislike the really cheesy part. Oh well.

Crystal
This was written for—and was a winner of—the 2004 NYSSMA Electronic Composers Contest. It's supposed to imitate the style of pieces that are often done with premade loops, but it's all-original (and because of that, more interesting—lots of subtle rhythmic changes and such).

Azure Journey
This piece has gone in a lot of different directions, but I'm pretty happy with where it finally ended up. In other news, Apple has an unreleased commercial that definitely stole my chord pattern (as much as anyone can steal something so generic).

Resistance
This song was written for a fake trailer for a movie that doesn't actually exist (nor will it ever). It's a long story. Note the absurdly fast guitar arpeggios—I like them.

Hyperspace
Here's an old piece from 9th grade, and my very first work with Reason.
